Hoval Seminar
Thursday 11 February 2011
Seminar Theatre 2
Time: 14.15 - 15.00
Speaker: Geoff Lord
Content: Hoval's seminar will provide an update on the latest biomass technologies, as well as addressing the implications of EC Directive 2008/50/EC, Ambient Air Quality and Cleaner Air for Europe. The Directive seeks to create a control framework for particulate emissions down to a diameter of 2.5 microns (PM2.5). However, the traditional cyclone and multi-cyclone technologies used with biomass only remove particles down to 10 microns (PM10). Potentially, this could severely curtail the use of biomass in the UK. Hoval will explain how new ceramic filtration technologies, that can be fitted, or retrofitted, to any make of biomass boiler, can address this issue by removing up to 96% of PM2.5 and PM10 particles.
